The Dachshund dog breed was originally developed for the flushing out of burrowing animals like badgers. In fact Dachs means badgers and Hund means hound. They are a loud barker and their barking can become a problem without proper training.

Back issues are also aggravated due to being overweight, excessive jumping, or rough handling.

If you have a standard color Dachshund such as a red or black, or even a long haired or wirehaired version, you may find gifts that have good pictures of your Dachshund. But if you have a different color variety such as a dappled where your Dachshund has spots, or a piebald where your Dachshund has various shades of brown over a white background, or you have multi colored Dachshund such as a black and tan, you may not be able to find gifts that look like your dog. For this you may need to find someone that creates unique photo items like candles, ornaments and magnets that feature an actual photo of your one of a kind dog.
